Welcome to Māia Kitchen — a space for food that feels like home.

I’m a qualified chef with a Culinary Arts degree, and Māia, my name and inspiration, reflects the journey that brings me here — the values, experiences, and connections at the heart of my cooking. My kitchen is my sanctuary, where I feel most alive and creative. Food, for me, is about connection through cooking — sharing, gathering, and creating moments that matter. From Sunday family dinners to little treats for friends and neighbours, my mission is simple: to help you feel confident and inspired in the kitchen, and to show how care and love always shine through on the plate.

The name Māia speaks of courage, boldness, and quiet confidence, the kind that carries you forward when the path isn’t clear. While my connection to whakapapa has had its complexities, I feel most aligned with my heritage through manaakitanga — the generosity, care, and hospitality that shape how I cook, share, and gather around food. Small symbols, like the kiwi feather that inspired the logo for Māia, quietly remind me of that courage and the joy of sharing what we love.

This is Māia: a space for recipes, reflections, and stories that nourish, inspire, and connect. My philosophy — connection through food — guides everything here, reflecting my purpose and the journey that brought me to this space.
